The Vigne Vecchie may be less complex than the Reserva, but it is still a gem. The blue/dark fruit is more forward here but the structure and acidity are as impressive as in its elder sibling. The almond aroma turns into marzipan in this one and the length of the aftertaste, with its earthy touch, is truly impressive. I even love Alziati's labels. This is traditional, artisanal winemaking at its very best: there is nothing artificial, slick or chromed here. This is truly honest, rustic, terroir-driven wine. I will come back for more.
